Occupational Safety Card training

The Occupational Safety Card training takes eight hours to complete. The training can be done in one part or divided into suitable units. The training can also be longer, and the course day can be accompanied by practical exercises and tasks and involve the use of different learning environments, such as safety parks.

The course includes an electronic exam, which can also be taken the traditional way on paper. If a participant has difficulties related to reading or learning, it is possible to take the exam orally. This should be agreed with the course instructor in advance. If you do not pass the exam, you can retake it twice.

Your card is a certificate of completed training

The Occupational Safety Card is a certificate of completed training. The mobile card at https://mobiili.korttitieto.fi/(siirryt toiseen palveluun) (you will be transferred to another service) also serves as proof of the card

If necessary, the course instructor can write a temporary certificate of completion of the course that is valid for up to one month (4 weeks).

The certificate must contain the following information:

In the case of professional qualification training for lorry and bus drivers, a written certificate of completing the training must always be issued to the participant in accordance with the requirements of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom.

The Occupational Safety Card is valid for five years.

Choice of training method and course instructor

Occupational Safety Card training can be provided as a customised training for the company, or the participants can attend an open training course. In many cases, using the company’s own Occupational Safety Card course instructor is also a good option.

Benefits of customised training include the opportunity to flexibly integrate the course day as part of the development of occupational safety skills of employees and occupational health and safety within the organisation. The course can be easily customised to cover company or client-specific practices and workplace-specific needs. In an open course, the different backgrounds and work experience of participants can help enrich and diversify the training.

A competent course instructor who is familiar with their field is able to address issues that participants need to support their professional skills and competences and knows how to use industry-specific additional materials to support the training.

One-day training to maintain professional qualifications

Occupational Safety Card training is one possible option for lorry and bus drivers who need to attend further training to maintain their professional qualifications. Check that the course instructor has a training centre permit granted by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom and that the day is organised as a professional qualification further training.

The training programme used is the “Kuljettajana yhteisellä työpaikalla” (Driver at a common workplace) approved by Traficom, diary number TRAFICOM/439311/05.03.07/2021.
